I just woke up. It’s only a quarter to 8am and already I am excited, confused, happy and sad all at once! (lol) I guess I’m just having an emotion overload, eh? Just my typical Monday blues – what d’ya think?
We had a power interruption yesterday – which really made sleeping an impossible thing. I usually sleep during the day and work nights – power went off at around 6am to 8am and went off again at around 1pm to 6pm! I slept for a couple of hours in the morning and woke up at around 1:30pm drenched in my own sweat! After that, I was awake all throughout the afternoon. I finally decided to change my rest day when I didn’t feel like I could go to work due to lack of sleep plus the fact that I am (again) suffering from these itchy, red rashes (darn allergies again) – I have it all over my face and back. I look hideous!
As soon as I went on the PC, I noticed Cacai’s greeting. It actually REALLY caught my eyes! She was congratulating me for having my blog’s PR2! I was soooo happy and excited! I thought “Finally! A PR for my blog!.” So I went to popuri, and other sites that lets you check your page rank – all of them returned a PR0 for my blog. And then I went from happy and ecstatic to sad and lost. And, now I’m confused. How can I tell and see my blog’s PR? Some say it’s on my side bar but I don’t have it. My blog is going to be a year old this June 20 and I’m still a PR0 with an Alexa ranking going lesser and lesser everyday. I wonder what I’m doing wrong?
Please help and shed some light to this poor, clueless blogger (sob…sob…sob…)
Janice,
ReplyDeleteThank you for visiting my site. I replied to your comment so I will not repeat it here.
I also use Site meter (sitemeter.com)
It is a free service and you get a lot of information, Provider, location, time on site, page views.
You will probably notice that a lot of visits from link referals will be 00:00 on site.
I see you have a visitor counter, you can set Sitemeter to that number so they match.
What I do is search for blogs with common interests and read and comment on their site. Readers then can click on your URL to visit yours.
Even though you do pay-per-post, I like your personal writings and will add you to my Bloglog. I hope you will return the favor.
Good luck and feel free to contact me for any other advice
Thanks Martin and Bruce!
ReplyDeleteI'm still a little confused but it's okay hehehehe
Bruce, added you to my blog list :) Thank you for the comment and for adding me up :)
God bless! :)
Page rank is very simple, and people confuse themselves because to many give information on SEO blogs when they do not know what they are talking about!
ReplyDeleteTo have a larger page rank number, you need links from PR 4 and above blogs. Links count for 6 months and six months only ... this means you always need NEW links coming in.
Traffic is a small part of the page rank equation, and is really irrelevant.
I will send you a link from my blog, OK??
There is also a Page Rank checker at the bottom of my blog for everyone to use :-)
If you have more qustions, please stop by!!!!
Happy week from Speedcat Hollydale
Yep, your current PR is zero. Please note that many page ranks drop to zero because of paid links though. Quite common, and I see you have lots of ads. (and your own PR checker too!)
ReplyDeletethx for your comments!
ReplyDeleteI did link you in my sidebar, but I see Technorati did not pick it up yet. I'll set you up in a post link soon ;-)
I did see your own Technorati stats ... YOU NEED LINKS !!!
Good luck,
Speedy
Thanks, Speedy!!! :) Greatly appreciated :)
ReplyDeleteTake care :)
Hey Girl...I hate page ranks...they are like weight scales to me and I have always steered very far from those all my life.
ReplyDeleteJust be who you are and do your best and do not let the page rank monster take control of your happiness.
I received a similar message as a pr3 and I merely assumed they had me confused with someone else.
Even with my website I never allowed the page rank to determine my achievements!
Maybe I a,m way to independent...who knows.
Anyway just be you!
Have a very nice day!
Janice,
ReplyDeleteI am not sure why or what about makes you confused. I see Speedcat know more than I do. Maybe he will help me and link and drive decent traffic to my site too. :-)
Im not a cyber Guru and still learning but always willing to help and get help.
Hi Bruce! :) Thanks for the visit and feedback hehehe I guess I'm just confused how PRs are computed but I'm starting to get the idea :) Thanks to all of you who made a great comment here -- been very helpful and I really appreciate it (A LOT!) :)
ReplyDeleteYour widget to check page rank is not working, try this one:
ReplyDeletehttp://bit.ly/wum2
It gives you a button that displays your pagerank plus when some one cliks it the site adds your link to the home page, thus increasing your rank by linking to your site.
